Join us at Islanders Field on Tuesday, August 2nd, for National Night Out, and get to know your neighbors and the local police and fire departments that serve your community. National Night Out is an annual event created to build relationships between neighbors and law enforcement by bringing them together in a casual environment. The campaign began in 1984 and involved 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states. Now, the event is celebrated nationwide in cities across all 50 states.
National Night Out promotes the idea that the best way to build a safer community is to know your neighbors and surroundings and develop relationships with the men and women who have sworn to protect you. Parents and their children will have the opportunity to learn about various safety topics and see the equipment up close. There will also be numerous family-friendly activities to enjoy with your friends and neighbors in the River Islands community.
This year, we will be hosting the event at River Islands’ own Islanders Field. It will kick off with a BBQ cooked up by the River Islands Veteran’s Club at 6 PM, and the party will continue until 8 PM. In addition to delicious treats, there will be live music, lawn games, and booths from our local community. Some of those in attendance include Lathrop PD, Lathrop-Manteca Fire, River Islands Academies, DIBS, Somerston Winery, Neighborhood Watch, City of Lathrop, RI Veterans Club, and RI Yoga Club. Make plans to come to Islanders Field and celebrate Lathrop as you help build a stronger River Islands community!
